The funds are used for education through sport and social development projects in Africa. The project has been inspired by Nelson Mandela’s dream of ‘education for all – all for education’. It was centred around Mandela’s 90th birthday (on 18 July) and the 2010 Fifa World Cup in South Africa. The two-year programme kick-started with the friendly game which saw top soccer stars at the Allianz Arena on 12 July. Kaka, Drogba, Cannavaro, Gattuso and Essien are among those who entertained those present for the game.
